Accounting for Merchandising Operations free essay sample

To get Le Fleur’s Net Sales Revenue, the Gross Sales, the Sales sum not yet deducted with contra-Sales accounts, must be decreased by Sales Discounts and Sales Returns and Allowances. The previous alludes to the money limits given by Le Fleur to its clients who paid for their credits early. The last alludes to the measure of product returned by clients to Le Fleur for reasons like low quality, surrenders, and such. In such a case, the Gross Revenue of E400, 000 must be deducted by the Sales Discounts and Sales Returns given with E4, 000 and E8, 000, separately.  The net outcome would be E388, 000, which is the Net Sales Revenue of Le Fleur. This will be the sum which ought to and which would take care of for the expense of deals of the firm. 2. The Cost of Sales is the biggest single cost of the business. It is the expense of stock that Le Fleur has offered to its clients. We will compose a custom exposition test on Representing Merchandising Operations or then again any comparable theme explicitly for you Don't WasteYour Time Recruit WRITER Just 13.90/page This incorporates the inventories, the acquisition of products less the measure of limits and returns, and the transportation cost. The measure of stock toward the start of the period is added to the Net Purchases to get the measure of Goods available to be purchased. The Net Purchases comprises of the gross Purchases less Purchases Returns and Discounts, both contra-records to buys, in addition to the transportation cost. The idea of these two contra-accounts is like that of Sales Discounts and Returns, just on the perspective of Le Fleur as the provisions or stock purchaser. The Goods available to be purchased will at that point be diminished by the stock toward the finish of the period, which means the merchandise despite everything left unsold. It will be deducted from such since the calculation will be for the measure of merchandise previously sold. Therefore, the Beginning Inventory of E20, 000 is added to the Net Purchases [(E 250, 000 †7, 000 †3, 000) + 8, 000] of E248, 000, which came about to the Goods available to be purchased, diminished by the Ending Inventory of E30, 000, acquiring the Cost of Goods Sold at E238, 000. 3. The Gross Profit, otherwise called the Gross Margin from Sales, is the sum which will cover the working and different costs of Le Fleur. Essentially, Gross Profit is the contrast between Net Sales Revenue and Cost of Goods Sold, in this way, (E388, 000 †E238, 000) the Gross Profit of E150, 000.

The Art of Waiting

The Art of Waiting There are many things in life that require you to have the ever elusive skill of patience â€" waiting for the bus, waiting on a friend at a café, or (dare I say it) constantly refreshing the decisions.mit.edu page. I remember when I was in your shoes. Back in the day, I had to do it not once but TWICE because I was deferred the first time around in December. It was torturous, and the clock seemed to tick too fast and too slow. There was nothing I wanted more than to know the decision but I feared the finality of it, all at the same time. I find the act of waiting (not scrolling on my phone or talking to someone, but just existing) extremely difficult. Scientists say it’s because we have very short attention spans now from our phones and need constant stimulation. Which perhaps is true, but also if I leave my mind to its own devices, I often descend into a deep thought spiral.  Then, sitting at the coffee counter, I start wondering if I got the time wrong or the date wrong, or maybe theyre mad because I left them on read for too long last week, or perhaps something terrible happened to them and they’re in the hospital and…you get the point. So Ive developed some go-to time-burners to get my mind on something else. Variable weather calls for variable coping mechanisms (especially since you applicants are all over the world!). Waiting on a nice, sunny day: Go forth and feel the warmth on you skin! I will be jealous as my lips crack and my skin turns lizard-y in the Boston cold. Workout  per Veronicas wonderful plan! Wander around while listening to some tunes. For some new sounds, check out what the bloggers listen to, a good 2019 variety show:  The New York Times 2019 playlist, or a great podcast about music when you want an in-between: Switched on Pop  (one of my favorite episodes â€" on the one and only Taylor Swift). Go explore your city! If you leave your hometown, this could be the last few months to visit your favorite places and/or discover new ones. For example,  a lot of yoga studios have community classes that are donation-based or $5, museums and other galleries often have student discounts, etc! Waiting on a dreary, rainy day: Grab some popcorn and escape the stress of this world for the stress of another world. Here are some  TV shows and movies Ive been watching for those Netflix and (actually) chill nights: Russian Doll: a Black Mirror-esque show with an actress from Orange is the New Black, basically she keeps dying and reliving the same day. Its way better than it sounds. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs: these are also all a little bit macabre, i’m sorry. Sorry to Bother You: a psychedelic look at modern day race relations in a world that is just a step away from our own. Her: Ex Machina-esque but less frightening, an unconventional rom-com. Waiting on a blustery, snowy day: Doesn’t it make you want to just crawl into bed, a cup of chamomile tea in hand, and snuggle up with a book? We have a lot of these kinds of days over here, so I have many a recommendation. FYI, I read on my phone or iPad on Kindle and Axis360, an app that most US libraries support to borrow eBooks, convenient to pull out on the subway, in class (shh), or right before bed. Books on my docket (or just ones that I love): For the feel-good types: Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine: still reading so cant say too much yet, but it deals with hard topics in a lighthearted, approachable way. A Gentleman in Moscow: lovely prose, a slower-paced read so don’t expect any dramatic showdowns. Little Fires Everywhere: a suburban utopia gets turned upside down, a mother-daughter piece of fiction that hits me right in the feels. For the magically-inclined: The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories: the namesake is the only short story to ever win all three short story awards, so good ah La casa de los espíritus: on the queue, as well as Allende’s other book Más allá del invierno. English versions are available too if thats more understandable. American Gods: An adult version of Percy Jackson, featuring a complex clash between the old gods (i.e. wisdom, darkness and light) and new gods (i.e. technology, media) For the practical / technologist: Algorithms to Live By: get a head start on 6.006 (Intro to Algorithms), applied to daily life. When Breath Becomes Air: a good perspective shift, talks a lot about life, purpose, and death. So pick your poison, and I hope this helps countdown the final few hours. Best of luck!

HIV Prevention in Africa Essay Example For Students

HIV Prevention in Africa Essay HIV Prevention in Africa Essay A continuing rise in the number of HIV infected people is not inevitable. There is growing evidence that prevention efforts can be effective, and this includes initiatives in some of the most heavily affected countries. One new study in Zambia has shown success in prevention efforts. The study reported that urban men and women are less sexually active, that fewer had multiple partners and that condoms were used more consistently. This is in line with findings that HIV prevalence has declined significantly among 15-29 year-old urban women (down to 24. 1% in 1999 from 28.3% in 1996). Although these rates are still unacceptably high, this drop has prompted a hope that, if Zambia continues this response, it could become the second African country to reverse a devastating epidemic. This suggests that awareness campaigns and prevention programs are now starting to work. But a major challenge is to sustain and build on such uncertain success. What form should AIDS education take? Peer education A social form of education without classrooms or notebooks, where people are educated outside a school environment but still have the opportunity to ask questions. Most peer education focuses on providing information about HIV transmission, answering questions and handing out condoms to people in a workplace, perhaps in a bar, or where a group of women gather to wash clothes. Most peer educators make contact with their target audience at least weekly and their sessions will usually be in the context of informal discussions with individual people or within a group. Active learning Active learning can sometimes link into peer education, especially when AIDS education is aimed at young people, as one of the best methods of learning something oneself is to teach it to others. Blanket education A general message aimed at the population as a whole. Blanket education usually aims to inform the population about which behaviors are risky and to give them support in changing these behaviors. Targeted education This type of strategy is usually used to speak to social groups who are perceived as being at a high risk of HIV infection. It focuses on risky activities particular to the specific target group. AFRICA ALIVE! January of 2000 kicked off the campaign to literally help keep Africa Alive! in the new millennium. The Mission of the Africa Alive! campaign is to give youth the skills they need to fight against HIV/AIDS. The vision is a new generation of Africans who are HIV/AIDS-free. With support from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Communication Programs (JHU/CCP), the Africa Alive! network will help organizations that have formerly been working on their own. The strategy for Africa Alive! encourages young people not only to learn and talk about HIV/AIDS, but also to make the choice to adopt safer sexual behaviors. International Strategic Management Honda Entering USA

Introduction Most multinational corporations analyse the political risks associated with investing in a particular country in order to avoid the risk of financial losses.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on International Strategic Management: Honda Entering USA specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More However, it should be noted that, effectively managing political risk can also be beneficial to companies in that it can help them take advantage of opportunities that they may not have identified if they had not carried out the risk analysis. This political risk assessment of the US business environment by Honda Corporation will therefore be carried for two purposes; to identify the risks facing the company and to identify the benefits that the company might realise in the event that they invest there (Jakobsen, 2010). Political environment It is very clear that country politics and the politicians do not operate separately fr om other affairs of a country and therefore most of the political changes that are experienced in a country are as a result of the various changes in the economic, social and cultural aspects of the country. This shows that even though most regulatory measures such as tax rates are decided upon by politicians, these regulations and considerations will generally be based on the economic conditions such as the economic status of the country and the effect these new regulations will have on the economy as a whole. This shows the importance of analysing the political environment of a country in relation to its effect on the operations of a multinational company planning to invest there. Rules and regulations established by politicians in the course of normal legislative duties impact on the activities of a business in terms of influencing the operational costs. These regulations also influence the marketing and distribution strategies adopted by a company in that particular country (Jen sen, 2006).Advertising Looking for essay on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More In the US, one of the major features of the economy is the way the private sector is allowed a lot of freedom to the extent that most of the economic decisions that determine the direction and the extent of production of the economy are made by members of the private sector. This is made possible due to the relatively low levels of regulations on business activities and the low levels of government intervention on the activities of the private business sector. The court system is also a major contributor to this freedom as it is charged with the responsibility of enforcing contracts and protecting the intellectual property of business entities. This freedom has contributed to the growth of businesses in the US and to the rapid growth of the economy of the country (Jensen, 2008). One of the major influences of political regulations in the US is the enactment of the Sarbanes-Oxley – 2002 which brought about stringent regulations on the financial reporting of companies operating in the country (Jain Rezaee, 2006). This has the implication that if the management of Honda decides to invest in the US, then they have to comply with the requirements of this act. Analysing the business environment of the US today reveals that the government has always tried to develop the country’s economy based on free competition and capitalism. This has been done through establishing laws and regulations that promote business operations in the country as well as the entry and operations of multinational corporations like Honda. Conclusion Based on the evaluation of the current business environment in the US, Honda Corporation can enter the US market because the country provides a good political environment for the business operations of multinational corporations.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample o n International Strategic Management: Honda Entering USA specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More However, the management of the company must prepare to comply with the regulations of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act 2002 which requires the restructuring of the financial reporting process to allow more openness and transparency. Competition is also stiff in the US and therefore Honda must develop quality products and services in order to survive in business. References Jain, P. All About Exterior Paint Problems and How to Fix Them

All About Exterior Paint Problems and How to Fix Them What are the safest ways to remove paint? Does exterior paint need to be taken off down to the bare wood? Do heat guns really work? These are questions homeowners around the world face. You are not alone. Fortunately, the paint problems of one persons home are the same faced by other homeowners. Believe it or not, the  U.S. Department of the Interior has come to the rescue. It wasnt until 1966 that the U.S. became serious  about preserving its historic heritage. Congress passed the National Historic Preservation Act and charged the  National Park Service (NPS)  with supporting historic preservation programs and activities. Their handy series of preservation briefs are geared toward historic buildings, but the information is great professional advice that anyone can use. Exterior Paint Problems on Historic Woodwork,  Preservation Brief 10, was written by Kay D. Weeks and David W. Look, AIA for the Technical Preservation Services. Although written back in 1982 for historic preservationists, these recommendations are good starting points for homeowners to come to terms with what needs to be done. Here is a summary of the historic preservation guidance and expertise for painting exterior wood siding - with links to more information from the original brief. Selecting the Safest Method to Remove Paint Removing paint involves work - that is, the manual labor of abrasion. How much time and effort are put into paint removal (or paint preparation) is a judgment call and may be the most difficult decision you make. Basically, you can remove paint from your homes exterior siding by three methods: 1. Abrasive: Rubbing, scraping, sanding, and generally using friction. Use a putty knife and/or a paint scraper to dislodge anything loose. Then use sandpaper (orbital or belt sanders are okay) to smooth each area. Do not use rotary drill attachments (rotary sanders and rotary wire strippers), do not water blast or pressure wash, and do not sandblast. These abrasive methods may be too harsh to the siding itself. Pressure washing above 600 psi may force moisture into places where it should not go. A gentle garden hose for cleaning up is okay. 2. Thermal and Abrasive: Heating paint to a melting point and then scraping it from the surface.  For thick layers of built-up paint, use an electric heat plate, an electric heat gun, or a hot air gun that heats from 500 °F to 800 °F. The blow torch is not recommended. 3. Chemical and Abrasive: Using a chemical reaction to soften the paint to make it easier to scrape away. For many reasons, use chemicals only as a supplement to other methods of paint removal. They are too dangerous for you and the environment. Two classes of chemicals are solvent-based strippers and caustic strippers. A third category is biochemical, which may be marketed as bio- or eco- but its the chemical part that makes it work. Paint Removal Precautions Any house built before 1978 may have lead-based paint. Do you really want to remove it? Also, dont substitute speed for safety. Only use the recommended methods listed above. Keep yourself safe and your house in one piece. Paint Surface Conditions and Recommended Treatments Ask yourself why you want to paint your house. If there is no paint failure, adding another layer of paint may actually be harmful. When paint builds up to a thickness of approximately 1/16 (approximately 16 to 30 layers), say the authors of Preservation Brief 10, one or more extra coats of paint may be enough to trigger cracking and peeling in limited or even widespread areas of the buildings surface. Repainting buildings for cosmetic reasons are not always good reasoning. Sometimes you dont need to remove old paint at all, especially for these conditions: Dirt and Grime: Sometimes road dirt and salt can make siding look worse than it is. Clean it with l/2 cup of household detergent in a gallon of water with a medium soft bristle brush and then a gentle hosing.Mildew: Clean with a medium soft brush using one cup non-ammoniated detergent, one-quart household bleach, and one gallon of water. Try to open the area to the sun to avoid further mildew.Paint chalking is that white film on the surface of old paint that is breaking down. Clean the area with a medium soft brush using l/2 cup household detergent to one gallon of water.Stained paint occurs most often from metal or wood becoming moist and coloring the painted surface. Determine the cause of the stain, but its usually unnecessary to remove the paint. Limited paint removal can be considered for these conditions: Paint Crazing: Crazing is fine, jagged interconnected breaks in the top layer of paint. It happens when a house has many layers of paint that become hard and brittle, not allowing expansion and contraction with the wood. Sand off a layer and repaint.Paint Blistering: To distinguish between solvent blistering and blistering caused by moisture, a blister should be cut open.Wrinkled Paint: This happens when the paint has been put on incorrectly. The authors call this an error in application. In a historic building, leave a small out-of-the-way patch untouched for archival purposes. A record of all of the paint layers through the history of the house is useful for future historians. Unfortunately, some conditions require complete removal of exterior paint: Paint Peeling: Before painting, remove sources of moisture inside and outside, as described by the authors: Excess interior moisture should be removed from the building through installation of exhaust fans and vents. Exterior moisture should be eliminated by correcting the following conditions prior to repainting: faulty flashing; leaking gutters; defective roof shingles; cracks and holes in siding and trim; deteriorated caulking in joints and seams; and shrubbery growing too close to painted wood.Cracking and Alligatoring: These symptoms are advanced stages of crazing. General Paint Type Recommendations Paint type is not the same aa s paint color. The type of paint to choose depends on the conditions, and most old (historic) homes will have oil-based paint somewhere in the mix. Remembering that this article was written in 1982, these authors seem to like oil-based paints. They say, The reason for recommending oil rather than latex paints is that a coat of latex paint applied directly over old oil paint is more apt to fail. Justification for Paint Removal A major purpose for exterior paint is to keep the moisture out of your home. Often you dont need to remove paint down to the bare wood. To do so usually requires harsh methods that may damage the wood. Also, the layers of paint on a house are like the rings of a tree trunk - they provide a history that future owners may want to analyze in a laboratory during an architectural investigation. Painting a house every 5 to 8 years protects exterior wood siding from moisture penetration - and can add some zing to your homes curb appeal. Regular maintenance of a house will include mere cleaning, scraping, and hand sanding. Where there is a paint failure, determine and fix the cause before you even begin a painting project. Treating paint problems often means a total painting of the structure may be unnecessary. However, if you determine that you need to paint your house, keep two things in mind before you repaint: (1) only remove the top layer of paint down to the next sound layer; and (2) use the gentlest means possible. The authors summarize their findings by repeating their cautious approach to painting and paint removal. The bottom line is this: There is no completely safe and effective method of removing old paint from exterior woodwork. The End of American Exceptionalism Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

The End of American Exceptionalism - Assignment Example However, Woods tainted his reputation and that of his country despite the global respect that he had attained over time in his career. This had a major effect of undermining the historical American exceptionalism that had put the nation at a superior level in the face of the global nations (LeVine, 2009). As an indirect technical rejoinder, Obama proves to the world that America still owns its superpowers. He delivers a powerful speech to the world that shifts the global attention from the tainted side of America to a more convincing side of the same. However, either through America’s leadership history or Woods’ misdeeds, the brand that America has boasted about long is under threat (Beinar, 2014). Like Obama, Woods humbly accepts his mistakes and expresses willingness to change and restore their country’s reputation. Obama who is a victim of the mistakes made by his predecessors openly accepts the nation's failures attributed to historical mistakes. This is so despite the fact that he may not mention or wish to know the how, where and when the misdeeds caused by his predecessors came about. On his part, Woods accepts his mistakes and he pretty understands how his wrong deeds served to tarnish the nation’s image. Both Woods and Obama intercept at the point that mistakes recognized and accepted, preserve and or restores America’s national brand despite the fact that challenging the costs and justification for such mistakes may not be possible (LeVine, 2009). Obama understands very well what the repercussions for mentioning and detailing the mistakes would be felt severely by the U.S. Mentioning what exactly transpired during the past regimes, even if he knew a million about them, would threaten the country’s reputation and international pride. The world views America as a powerful and autonomous nation that wields a vast socio-economic command over other nations in the world... However, Obama understands that when the past mistakes, injustices and constraints of the predecessors were to be unearthed in details, the nation could lose considerable amounts of power and command in the socio-economic aspect.  Ã‚

Parts of an APA Paper Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Parts of an APA Paper - Essay Example As the style would be created in conjunction with the American Psychological Association, there would in turn be an element of psychological consideration given to its overall formation and creation. The primary section found within the created APA work, would be the first page, or the title page. A page that would consist of a header placed in the upper right hand corner, along with the first two words from the decided upon title. Next, what would follow would be the running head section, or the outlining of the title of the work. Lastly, the primary page would see its title mentioned once more, this time towards the middle of the page and halfway down. Further information besides this, may include the individuals name, as well as the organization that they would have completed the work through. Attention to detail and construction would be of the utmost imperative, as the overall research compiled would be assessed to determine, whether or not, the information gathered would sufficiently warrant publication in the first place. Following the title page, would be the inclusion of an abstract. Its relevance is outlined as follows, "A well-prepared abstract can be the most important paragraph in your article," (APA, 2002, p.12). For many who seek to observe written material, the abstract will most likely be the first thing that is viewed, in order to grasp the general nature of the material that is to be presented as the reader goes over it. Further outlining the importance of this abstract, "Readers frequently decide on the basis of the abstract whether to read the entire article; this is true whether the reader is at a computer or is thumbing through a journal," (APA, 2002, p.12). With the understanding and approach towards reading the material bearing upon the construction of the abstract, the writer would need to construct the abstract in such a manner that would effectively detail the subsequent material that they would have gathered. As would be the case with the portions encompassing the written work, it would remain crucial that each portion would be produced in such a manner that would be succinct and accurate. The abstract would be a detailed account of what would reside within the paper itself, rather than an instance for assessment of the general nature of the work. The language used shall remain clear and easy to understand. Following the abstract, the next item to come within the paper, would be the addition of an Introduction. The primary purpose of this section would be to state the issue(s) to be addressed and the manner at which any research was performed, in order to come to a subsequent conclusion(s). As for length, "A good introduction answers these questions in a paragraph or two and, by summarizing the relevant arguments and the data, gives the reader a firm sense of what was done and why," (APA, 2002, p.16). While the material would be discussed, it would be done so briefly, rather than in cons iderable detail. Lastly, the purpose of the piece, or the thesis statement, is outlined within the final portion of the introductory section. The next section would be for the method. A section that would be divided into parts and would discuss such things as those who took part in the research, whatever things were used during the research and whatever methods that were taken in pursuit of conducting the research. The Contemporary Hospitality Industry In The UK

The Contemporary Hospitality Industry In The UK INTRODUCTION OF HOSPITALITY hospitality in my own understanding is between guest and host it includes the venue or location and how to entertain the guest that provides the quality of service for the purpose of hospitality. It is also means that when and where there are foods and drinks operate in any establishment there is a hospitality means. Like in United Kingdom hospitality now a day change in so many ways because before establishments in food and beverages must close early before night comes and no one is allowed to operate so the effect for the hospitality means are low in terms of business income to every business owner and of course to the government of this country. But now a day hospitality in this country establishment like food and beverages, convenient store, bars and clubs also restaurants are a huge part of contribution in sharing a national income to the government of United Kingdom. And aside from the many varieties of hospitality establishment in United Kingdom th ey are allowed to operate more time some are till mid time of the morning but the security of the cities are become more strict in terms of caring and visualizing the people because some teenagers become more aggressive when they are drunk so for the concerned of the good citizens like policemen they keep on patronized to keep the peace and safety of every one. STRUCTURE OF THE HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY-3 from top to bottoms like a pyramid shape this is how I illustrate the structure of a business in hospitality industry from top of course is the owner then a big role from a called area manager or head manager or either deputy manager down to assistant manager then shift managers it is categorized in many sectors for the shift managers because under this there are so called leader shift manager, kitchen manager, accountant or accounting department manager, the head security and staff, logistic and human resource management, the maintenance manager under this are the apprentice and staffs, the front counter, crew members, crew trainee, kitchen staff, coordinators staff, security staff from this sectors are the bottoms of the structured phase of hospitality but from this sectors where in the lower position are the managers started to gain performances defend on their knowledge, talent, ability and skills on how they be graded to promote on the nex t high level of position till they reach the position as being manager because of their impeccable performances. But this is not an easy task for everyone because it is required the ability to show how dedicated you are in your workplace the experiences for every candidates to pass through, specially the difficulties on how to handling the unconditional problem situation of the duties and responsibility on how an employee manage the success of his/her responsibility. But with the regards to the operational structure of this establishment I want to elaborate the significant about the different of the two hospitality industry that I chosen the first one is the mc Donald restaurant which I am working now and the second one is the Reflex bar which is openly visit most of the week just for the pleasure of unwinding my long stay in this country as part of international student or let say because sometimes you can escape from thinking back how is the family in the country where I came from or as easily called just to ease the called Home sick. Operationally mc Donald restaurant operates usually with crew members, crew kitchen members and a shift manager while in functional the information technology, the human resources and the area manager are not seen mostly in the restaurant. While in the Reflex bar operational team member mostly in the establishment you can meet first is the security who check the identity of every customer to make sure that they are in the right age because the establishment serve liquor beverages then inside you will meet the second security who are assigned in taking the entrance fee of five pounds for every customer who visit the bar then in inside of the bar are the bar tender and the waitress and waitress their role gives more means to hospitality in the bar because they can contribute efficient service to the customer because I like their being polite and too generous to commit the needs of the customer like the way they manage the mixing of the wine with the style of their own creation. About the functional operation of the Bar the head chef cannot be seen in this establishment in which is the different from the mc Donald that you can see how the kitchen crew operates but they are equal in human resource and area manager and the owner as well in functional term. 1.1 I choose Mc Donald as part of my task, because this is where I work and also I can rely more of information I need to gather and it is also relevant to my course. Our restaurant is more on walk in types of restaurant and I find some information on the internet that Mc Donald restaurants are about to 30,000 restaurants, serving 52million people in more than 100 countries each days. Also that 70% of the restaurants are operated and owned by independence both male and female. Also in this field of business I can elaborate some scale of economies for this restaurant. The external economies that the cost per unit depends on the size of the industry and the internal economies that the cost per unit depends on the size of the individual firm, also in scale of hospitality it gives a big company access to a large market by allowing them to operate with a greater geographical reach. While in the scope of hospitality are cost Advantage that result when firms provide a variety of product or deli very of a single output. It can arise from the sharing or joint utilization of inputs and leads to reduction unit cost. In regards to the diversity of this restaurant products and service are complete in terms of meal deals from drinks to burgers and with a portion of chips or French fries. With regards for the accommodation of this restaurant the first thing people can observe is the five star remarks that stick on the front door of the restaurant showing the rate from the board of health and safety regulatory then also the warm welcome service of the crew member for being their politeness. Secondly the facilities are complete in terms of technology because we have the WI fi free internet connection for the customer also the clean and a nice place to eat and relax and a good place for the children especially for the family to visit. While in the Reflex bar the number of the customer compare to the number of the costumer of mc Donald restaurant are too far from the number of their c ustomer who visit in a day because reflex bar operate only at night time while the restaurant operate night and day. Also the mc Donald serve a variety of foods in terms of promotional offer in every month we have a rotational offer of the new product and with the big help of advertizing and the media as well it helps a lot to introduce the product to promote it with the part of a meal deal also. So the tendency customer are not feeling fed up for the burgers because aside from the promotional product they offer some free as well specially in the childrens meals this is the biggest different in part of the Reflex bar in which they only have a brochure to offer for the customer and most of their promo are only free entrance but with the regards to the food and drink are still in the same price customer can get. 1.2 1.2 The second choice that I pick is the Bar which I usually visit just located in reading town, THE REFLEX bar of the 80s I love to visit the bar every Saturday because that is the big night of the week. It feels unwind to me. Inside the bar you can feel their music, but the set up of the business is more focus on beverages and some foods too. But they were popular on the ambiance especially their sounds thats maybe the reason people love to visit the place. And I could also say, that because the tendency of the bar is focus more on the mature customer because 80s songs now a days are more likely to the 30yrs old up persons. Unlike some bars are fits for the teenagers only and the tendencies or the impact for social community are very strict and so complicated because of their youngest age while in the reflex bar is not because more of the customers are professionals. But also one of the things that I like in this bar is the strict of the staff and friendly as well and very polite to th e customer. But in regards to the services structure of this establishment there are various dissimilar and similar when it comes to operational and functional. Operational the mc Donald restaurant operates without the security personnel while in the reflex bar is required with the security staff because they serve different liquor beverages. And functional both mc Donald and reflex bar are similar in like human resource management, information technologies, and the maintenance management and of course the owner of the establishment. 1.3 People 1st is the sector skills council for hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism. We are working to transform skills in the sector, particularly in the areas of management and leadership, customer service and craft skills. We are committed to ensuring that public funds support the industry to develop only those qualifications and programs that meet the needs of employers. http://www.people1st.co.uk/ In my own understanding to this I think now a day the government of United Kingdom gives the skilled person the opportunity to have the better job benefits and also for the foreign student like us it is more beneficial when u meet the requirements the new program gives the international student to have a working permit visa as long as you finish the course in a diploma or a managerial course because according to the government in this country they ensure to support the public funds for the development of the industry. The British Hospitality Association has been representing the hotel, restaurant and catering industry for 100 years. The Association exists to ensure that the views of the British hospitality industry are represented in a forceful, coherent and co-ordinate way to government and policy makers in the UK and internationally, in order that its members businesses can flourish. The British Hospitality Association (BHA) was established in 1907 as the Incorporated Hotel Keepers Association. In 1910 it merged with a new and entirely separate organisation called Incorporated Association of Hotels and Restaurants, taking on the latters name. http://www.bha.org.uk/details.cfm?page=suppliers In this matter world wide support organization or rather known as globalization is the best I can explain because now a day every country share and support the needs of the industry specially the field of hospitality industry in this country. Like in mc Donald before they started from a few franchising then they come up to establish their own products like owning a huge farm for their potatoes and made their own French fries as well as the process of the milk from their own farm land as well to give support to the farmers of this country that is also agreed to the policies of the government in United kingdom. 1.3 The Institute of Hospitality is the professional body for managers and potential managers in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industries is an internationally recognised management organisation with UK and international regional branches covers all sectors of the industry including hotels, contract catering companies, restaurants, pubs and clubs, as well as leisure outlets, theme parks and sports venues is a registered charity and has a worldwide membership with a wide range of benefits provides members with designatory letters which confer a respected acknowledgement of an individuals qualifications and specific industry experience enables members to  network with industry contacts, to develop professionally and to progress through the membership grades of the Institute. The Institute of Hospitality is a registered educational charity and works closely with all hospitality, leisure and tourism agencies, education and awarding bodies, and government departments, providi ng an interface between education and industry. Home Institute of hospitality in my own explanation, like in impact international college giving a student especially like us international student who are taking up higher national diploma in hospitality management are giving the chance to become a professional in the field of hospitality. Impact school is one of my examples as the institute of hospitality that help the international student gain both the education and a career diploma. Their instructor is highly skilled and trained profession that enhances us to more information about the world of hospitality and guided us to become one of them in the future. HND in Hospitality Management Unit 1 Task Two The Contemporary hospitality Industry 2.1 In this task still I choose the restaurant and a bar as part of the topic in my assignment the highlight of this two hospitality establishment are the restaurant that operates in day and night and the bar that is operates more on the night according to my chosen field. The mc Donald and the reflex bar. The big issues for this two is the restaurant roles and responsibility, the restaurant is more on training because it operates with the many structures of trainees that compose of both part time and full time and most of the participant are a variety of foreign workers. While in the bar, the staff is mostly hired in this country because it required most important of their English communication because the type of business is more comply on how you communicate to the customers for fast service quality. And the type of foods and drinks they offer in this establishment are very different because in the restaurant it is fit to eat and drink for the children and adult while in the bar, wine and liquor beverages are serve for the adults only and the types of foods as well are fit for the young and adults only. Also the dissimilar types of customer comes in this two hospitality establishment are in a huge differences the restaurant customers comes for eating accommodation only while the customers in the bar are comes for the pleasure of enjoying the music, dancing and of course a group of parties and an event of celebrating birth day parties for young and adults this is in more of drinking rather than eating. Another thing is the place or the site of the venue for these two different catering industries I observe most that the restaurant where sited in a place where more people visited like in the huge car parking space or most in the malls or near in the public places that most people visit unlike in the bars you can site them most in the town cities that are nearest in the police station that are intact to communicate in case of any violence happen in the scene. 2.2 In this sector the roles and responsibilities of the staff for each establishment are a very important for every business because this is the characteristic and the main highlight that asses and manage the business. The criteria for every individual qualification are in different requirement, I can describe that the head of the business is the store manager in a restaurant with the support of the assistant manager who impose the action taken from the order of the store manager. Then the assistant manager divided the special task for the shift managers in different schedule and different assignment so that every body can share their particular task and also train and develop the staff as well. They manage the information gather according to the order of the store manager and this is how my work place manages the team in our restaurant in mc Donald. With regards to my understanding in this task about how the staffing affect the issues for hospitality I can added that if you pursue to w ork hard definitely they will give you a priority to trust that will attain me more benefits in having more time to work, they also increase my hourly rate and a good recommendation that will promote me in the next level of achievement and this is how I attain my position as crew trainee and also they promote me as a role model crew member. Then they look forward on what is my back ground in educational attainment I take Hotel and Restaurant Management in the Philippine and now taking Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management which I think, that in the future I can use it as one of my reference to get a better job. As a matter of fact they are looking forward for me to grab the opportunity to become one of their managers. But it is complicated to my time schedule in college because the slot of the schedule programmed for the trainee of managers will be conduct on the day of my college days. I use this field of my experience as part of my task because I believe it has a relev ant to the question. In added also about the roles of the staffs, this time is about the duties and responsibilities of the operational members for the kitchen staff they manage to control the foods they cook like the burgers it should not be more than the tabulated daily burgers must be made and they should follow the flow of business, if its busy on the unexpected days kitchen staff must be pro active on their duty to follow the good process of hot and good quality of burgers. In the chicken side is also the same process should the kitchen crew must follow and they should be connect to each other meaning if the chicken side is busy and the burger side or grilled side we called is not, then they should give assist to support the fast way of serving the customers. And for us the front counters we should follow the six steps for hospitality ways this are greet first the customers welcome them then take the order then take the money and assemble the foods then the fifth is present the foods and last greet goodbye to the customers. Must all be done in a lovely smile to serve every customers visit the restaurant? HND in Hospitality Management Unit 1 Task Three The Contemporary hospitality 3.1 In this task the standard operating procedures of the food safety first must meet the requirements of the health and safety regulations. Meaning for the small establishment at least meet the three stars not lower than that and for the big establishment like mc Donald, Kentucky fried chicken, burger kings and many other big establishments must be graded a five stars from the health and safety regulatory board. They put stickers on the front of the establishment that marks five stars to show to the public that they pass the requirement of clean and healthy foods requirements. Now in actual presentation I have the experience in organizing and preparing the needs of restaurant by the role of maintaining the cleanliness of the restaurant as a matter of fact my store manager is very proud of me when I do the cleaning. I remember when we have the expected big visitors from health and regulatory staff we are given a grade of 96 percent in cleaning because I have done the good quality of clea ning, organize the stocks in a proper way the freezer foods stock are arrange in an organize first in first out boxes, tables and chairs where detailed clean for the purpose and safety of the customer eat in the restaurant. As an operational team worker this is my contribution in my work place as well in this task. In legislative issues resulting from recent developments that affecting the hospitality industry the regulations that changes are No smoking inside the premises of the restaurant also no liquor allowed to drink in the premises. In the contrary of that the restaurant, gives free internet access to use for their guess while dine inside the restaurant. When it comes to tips not all the times or most are lucky to have the tips because its as fast food type of restaurant but in the drive thru I am popular because of my different strategy is diverting hospitality that makes most of the customer likes me and the result tends to receive me most of having a tips from the customer but, its not about the tips I am happy its the way the customer appreciates my service and I could also added this experience of mine as entertainment because the management found that when I am in the drive thru window customers keep coming because of my different entertainment to them. They love my being politeness. In understanding developments in managerial they give opportunity to each crew a training provided for any candidates who meets the requirements number one is the most achievements in dedicated hard working. Then follows every socs gained by the crew its the social oriented customer satisfaction. 3.2 The current image of the hospitality industry, before establishment in hospitality are very limited in terms of, time of business, types of business. Now a days I could really differentiate the big issues that changes the establishment in hospitality because now they can serve longer time for food and beverages industry even in the hotel accommodation as well. And that maybe the cause of increase in establishment growth in every cities and town, this are some example of the image happen now in the industry of hospitality the popular perception are happens now because of the increasing number of establishment growth in food and beverages and also the improvement of their quality in terms of fast growing foods trend because now a day people are more busy in their life style and the tendencies of their time to eat and cook are limited so they tend to prepare eating out and ordering take away foods that are now serving in most restaurant. Another trend that helps more impact to increase the expansion of foods and beverages establishment is the exposure of media. With the help of advertisement people easy inform about the new trend of product they offer in foods or even in the beverages as well.

Misic as communication Essay

I believe music on its own is a letter and it meant to communicate to us as people. The kind of music you listen is who you are, its either you are rough, soft or just tempo. Music can also be used as a mood enhancer, when you are sad and listen to sad music you will remain sad but if you are sad and listen to positive music it will take you to some place else and make you happy. Its the one thing that can bring people together even if they don`t understand the language. When people are happy they dance and its really fun because everyone dances anyway they want because the song speaks to all but in different ways. Musical Performance

The history of music predates the written word and is tied to the development of each unique human culture. Music has been used as meditational music since the very dawn of civilization, because it balances the human organism through its rhythmic pattern of tones, which are generated in a harmonic relationship with each other. Mantras originated in the Vedic religion of India, later becoming an essential part of the Hindu tradition and a customary practice within Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism. Indian music and mantras bring us back in to the physical world every day.   Most of the indian songs were written by   saints for devotion and meditation. This music was created in order to give people better feelings. Not long ago I visited the concert of a not very famous group â€Å"Atmosphere†. It consisted of two women who chanted mantras and three men who played some instruments. Those instruments included pakhawaj , violin, flute. The most exotic of those instruments were pakhawaj and flute. Pakhawaj   is a long bodied wooden drum with both ends covered in skin. Played horizontally with the fingers and palms of both hands, the right hand surface is tuned to the pitch required and the left hand surface provides the base. Flute, carved from bamboo, is made in every possible size. It is usually played in a vertical position. The combination of the sounds made by those instruments was excellent. The music they played was composed by the members of those group. They took the text of a famous Indian mantras and   composed   a modern joyful music for chanting it. Actually, when they were singing and playing they were meditating themselves. Moreover, a lot of people sitting in the hall were meditating too. While singing the women were dancing. There were no special costumes, except an embroidered Indian shirts. Of course they were influenced by some chanters of mantras, but intheir group they expressed their individualities. To tell the truth, I liked the style of their performance greatly. I think it was a good idea to combine mantras with a modern music. References â€Å"Atmosphere: Music Group†. (2006). Examples Of Sibling Rivalry In Everyday Use By Alice Walker

There are many things that get everyday use, and there are other things that should be use more lightly. In the short story â€Å"Everyday Use† this is a debated topic and one of the main themes of the story. The story is about a small family a mom and her two children, her two daughter are on completely opposite sides of the spectrum. These differences are the cause of the cause of the main conflict in the story. It is stated in an article by Nini Yang that â€Å"The differences among humans is what causes conflict†(Yang). Family heirlooms should have sentimental value to those in possession of them. The last message the short story â€Å"Everyday Use† provides is the importance of a good parent child relationship. In the short story â€Å"Everyday Use† there are two parent child relationships, one being between Maggie and the mom, and the other between Dees and the mom. There is not a lot in the story giving much insight on Maggie’s relationship with her mother, but for the most part it seem decently healthy, but not the best. Dees and her mother’s relationship though wretched. Dees has been spoiled her whole life and is used to getting her way, whether her mom likes it or not. Dees really has no respect for her mother, because she has always been a push over. Luis Laosa said that â€Å"certain behavioral dispositions that determine how he/she will behave as a parent. As a result, parental behavior will have important consequences for a childs development†(Loasa) The poor behavior that Dees has now is a direct correlation with how her mother raised he r.
